The Dancers of The Washington Ballet have been prevented from taking the stage in recent months because of a lock-out and labor dispute, but area residents now have a special chance to see the talented group perform with Dancing Towards Relief: A Union Benefit for Washington’s Ballet Dancers. The series of benefit performances, hosted by American Dance Institute, an educational 501c(3) organization, in Rockville, MD, will start Thursday, March 9th and run through Sunday, March 12th. The public can directly support the dancers by purchasing tickets to the event. All monies collected go directly to the dancers through the American Guild of Musical Artists, AFL-CIO (AGMA) Relief Fund, a 501c(3) not-for-profit charitable foundation.

Dancers involved with the benefit said in a statement, “In our quest and desire to fulfill our artistic lives which have been put on hold by the management of the Ballet, we want to share our talent, devotion, and passion for dance with all those who have been supportive in keeping our art alive.” American Dance Institute will donate their intimate, 140-seat facility for the performances, which will include a Flower Festival in Genzano pas de deux, a White Swan pas de deux, and ballets by Roudolf Kharatian, Michael Bjerknes, Jason Hartley, Jared Nelson and others.
