Pilates workshops The American Dance Institute is pleased to present: A weekend of workshops with June 28-29, 2008 Entire weekend fee: $250 PMA CECs will be offered for each workshop.

(includes 1 ¼ hour lunch and 15 minute break) Pain is a response of the nerve. It does not make any difference where the pain arises, the sensation is a nerve response. You may have pain in your leg or arm that is a result of an injury to your spine. A diagnosis from a medical practitioner is essential to determining the type of exercise program a client needs. The trunk consists of 24 vertebrae (7 cervical, 12 thoracic, 5 lumbar,) the sacrum, pelvis, ribs and sternum. The relationship of the spine to the pelvis, legs and arms is essential for a well-functioning body. Movement in the spine should move through the pelvis, legs and arms. Movement of the limbs should sequence through the spine for a well functioning body. Injury or dysfunction will cause a break in that sequence producing inefficient movement patterns. Your job is to recognize and restore the efficient movement sequence and flow to the body. This workshop is open only to instructors.
Sunday, June 29, 2008: 9:30am-5:30pm (includes 1¼ hour lunch break and 15 minute break) ‘Scoliosis’ This six-hour workshop is focused on the condition of Scoliosis, how to identify the condition and understanding the implications for the individual. The participant will learn how to adapt Pilates for this condition as well as exercises specific to scoliosis. This workshop is open only to instructors. |
