Pilates Challenge Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect during the Challenge

Pilates is a method of exercise that challenges body, mind and spirit. You will slowly learn to strengthen from the inside out, noticing changes gradually, but clearly. Movements you struggled with last week suddenly feel easy. Your friends tell you “you look different, are you doing something new?” You are beginning to glow with renewed vigor and zest, not only for Pilates, but for life. Not only do your feel better, you look stronger, your shape shifts and you move with grace and ease.

I want to lose weight, is this a good program for me?

Pilates is an exercise system that uniformly develops the body; increasing strength and flexibility; building deep and authentic core strength; improving posture, alignment and stamina; and giving more energy for all aspects of one’s life. It is not a system developed for weight loss, although some participants may experience some weight loss. If weight loss is a goal, we recommend that you also add 30 minutes of cardio 3-4 times per week into your workout program. We also suggest that you make healthy diet choices not only during the duration of the program, but as you continue to make positive choices for your life.

Will Pilates give me a flatter stomach or thinner legs?

The physical results you gain from Pilates will vary according to your body and potential. While you may certainly see and achieve positive physical results from the Challenge, the most important aspect we will promote is that of increased health and vitality. As Joseph Pilates says in his book Return To Life, “Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness".

What happens if I need to miss a class for illness or travel??

We will do our best to reschedule you into either your class or private sessions. In the case of travel, we will extend the Challenge to accommodate for your vacation time; however, it is in your best interest to be as consistent with the program as possible so that your results will be as positive as possible.

The late cancel policy will apply to The Pilates Challenge: we request that you give a full 24-hour notice to cancel any private or class sessions, otherwise you will forfeit your class or session.

This program is a big commitment; I’m concerned I won’t be able to fit it into my schedule, or that the class schedule won’t work with mine.
