Articulate Eye Pilates Teacher Training Course

Program Components

The program requires 700 hours of work/study for program completion:

  • 225 practice teaching hours
  • 100 lesson hours
  • 18 trainee meeting hours
  • 80 lecture/clinic hours
  • 175 observation hours
  • 8 personal coaching hours
  • 12 trainee workout hours
  • 35 solo workout hours
  • 50 miscellaneous hours

Practice Teaching Hours: Trainees and their volunteer clients are subject to the etiquette and scheduling policies of the studio.

Lesson Hours: Lessons must be taken with an instructor whose background and experience will benefit you as a trainee. Due to the intensity of the program, you should expect to complete more lesson hours than required to progress you into the most advanced levels of Pilates, and prepare you for your performance exam.

Trainee Class Workouts: At two 6-week segments during the training year, classes specifically for and open only to the training group will be offered.

Trainee Meetings: These monthly meetings will be spent working through various exercises, teaching techniques and terminology, and will provide a comfortable forum for trainees to ask questions, compare notes, etc. For the first 6 months of the program, the trainee meetings will last 1 hour; the last 6 months the trainee meetings will last 2 hours.

Lecture Hours: Please also refer to The Articulate Eye Teacher Training Program Lecture Agenda. The lecture hours are broken down as follows: six 10-hour weekend lecture modules, two 4-hour weekend lecture modules as needed for last 6 months of the program, and six 2-hour teaching clinics. Every trainee must commit to full attendance of all lecture modules.

Personal Coaching Hours: At approximately 8-week intervals, your assigned mentor will meet with you to assess your progress and discuss your individual questions and concerns. Each trainee will have 5 coaching sessions during the training year.

Examinations: Trainees are tested on all material covered. Tests are administered in several formats, including essay and practical/performance. The training program is designed so that test implementation is the natural result of a positive learning experience. There will be 4 exams over the course of the year: an anatomy exam, a longer essay exam covering the finer point of the method and teaching, a performance exam, and a practical teaching exam.
