Have you ever wanted to try dance classes?? Or, have you taken dance in the past but now need to go back to the basics? If so, now is the time to sign up for Ballet or Flamenco!

Introductory Ballet stresses the proper stance for alignment, positions of the arms and feet, as well as the coordination of these principles. An introduction to the fundamental principles of dance, this class is designed for students who have never danced ballet, or dancers who have taken time off from the discipline. This level is also designed for the injured dancer who wants to work at a slower pace in specific terms of therapy and recuperation. Students will learn the ballet vocabulary necessary for other forms of dance disciplines.

Flamenco is an art form whose origins lie in the southern region of Spain, Andalucia. It is a rich art form that encompasses dance, song and guitar playing to express deep emotions. These emotions are portrayed through the interplay of music and dance and supported by complex rhythmic structures, "compas". Spontaneity, improvisation, passion and emotion are key words to describe Flamenco.

Introductory Flamenco/Spanish Dance focuses on the basic technique of foot and arm work and begin to work within the “compass” (rhythmic structure). The student will work with “palmas” (handclapping) as an accompaniment to certain flamenco “palos” (songs or dances) played on the guitar.

Beginner I Flamenco/Spanish Dance teaches students a deeper and fuller understanding of the basic technique of Spanish and flamenco dance. This class may include "Sevillanas", a very popular dance from Sevilla, the capitol of Southern Spain. Students in this level must be have six months of flamenco/Spanish dance experience.
